About the Lynx

This new service is a weekday commuter service to the Transbay Terminal in San Francisco operating every 15-30 minutes between the hours of 5:15 a.m. - 9:55 a.m., and 3:30 p.m. - 8:31 p.m.  The service starts on Willow Avenue in Rodeo in the morning, making a stop at the Victoria by the Bay neighborhood and the Hercules Transit Center before departing to the San Francisco Transbay Terminal on the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane.

In the afternoon, service starts from the San Francisco Transbay Terminal directly to the Hercules Transit Center (The Lynx stop is located at Platform 3B, lane 3 of the Transbay Terminal, stopping in front of AC Transit's Transbay Line P Piedmont and Line E Claremont), continuing to the Victoria by the Bay neighborhood, and ending on Willow Avenue.

The Service features timed connections with Route 15 on Willow Ave. and with the remaining local routes at the Hercules Transit Center.  The service began operating on September 19, 2005, with a new schedule released on June 19, 2006 with more frequent service.

WestCAT Lynx Monthly Passes

Sold at the WestCAT administrative office or by certified mail only and will be honored for unlimited travel on WestCAT Lynx, the local fixed routes, Martinez Link 30Z, and express buses, during the month of issue as indicated on the front of the pass.  These passes are valid for use through the last bus on the last service day of the month in which sold.  They are not valid for use on Dial-A-Ride or ADA Paratransit nor for weekend service on any route. WestCAT tickets may not be used to purchase monthly passes. WestCAT monthly passes are valid on WestCAT buses only.

Lynx Transfers

Transbay fares for passengers transferring from another WestCAT route to the Lynx to San Francisco are:

  • $2.50 Adult/Student (Ages 6-64)
  • $1.25 Senior (Age 65+)/Disabled
  • $1.25 Medicare Eligible

Transfers are free between all WestCAT local and express routes and WestCAT Lynx with the presentation of a valid Lynx monthly pass (weekdays only when Lynx is in operation).

Lynx tickets may be used as a transfer from a local fixed route or express bus to a Lynx bus by presenting the ticket to the local fixed route or express bus driver, who will punch the ticket like a transfer and then give it back.  A punched ticket may not be used again when boarding another WestCAT route, except on the rare occasion when a person must use two buses to get to a Lynx transfer point. When in doubt, the passenger may be asked how many transfers they must make to get to the Lynx transfer point (one example: Rte. 16 from Pinole Valley to downtown Pinole, then a J to the transfer point).   In this case, the ticket will be punched once more by the second driver (max. two punches per ticket). Once ticket has been punched twice it may not be used as a transfer on any other local or express bus. After which, it is only valid at the transfer point and upon boarding the Lynx bus, the passenger must then deposit the punched ticket into the farebox.

Lynx tickets are not valid for use on fixed route buses on the weekends as a transfer (the Lynx bus is a weekday only route).  If a passenger boards with a Lynx ticket on a local fixed route or express bus on the weekend, the ticket must be placed into the farebox as proof of payment of fare or passenger must pay local cash fare.  Credit will not be given to passengers using Lynx tickets on local or express buses on weekends when the Lynx does not run.

Local Lynx trips are free with a valid transfer from another WestCAT route.
