WESTCAT LYNX TRANSBAY BUSES GET WiFi SERVICE FOR THE NEW YEAR
January 17, 2007--Exciting news for WestCAT Lynx passengers, testing of routers and wireless equipment for a new, free wireless internet service to be introduced next week on all of the agency’s Transbay buses was a success and is now ready for its public unveiling.
Westcat’s general manager, charles anderson is happy to report that the agency is now ready to let lynx riders have a turn at surfing the net using this exciting new service.
On Tuesday, January 17th, the system was put through the most important test phase since it was installed. Armed with his laptop and the assistance of Enrique la Roche, WestCAT’s IT contractor, Mr. Anderson, proceeded to conduct several test runs onboard one of the agency’s four Lynx transbay buses from the Hercules Transit Center to the San Francisco Transbay Terminal and back again. After several trips, the service was deemed ready for the public. “I’m really excited about the new service, it’s been in the works for some time, and it is just one more thing that will help us to make the commute for our riders more comfortable and convenient.” Mr. Anderson said.
When a passenger first logs onto the system, they will be taken to a page of instructions explaining how to use the service and any limitations to usage. This service will be offered free of charge to all Lynx transbay passengers.
