The Western Contra Costa Transit Authority (WestCAT) and WestCAT’s contractor MV Transportation are preparing for our 2nd annual back to school donation drive. Last year was WestCAT’s first time collecting school supplies and it was a great success! Staff were overwhelmed with the support from the local community, WestCAT and MV employees, and WestCAT’s vendors. We are very optimistic this year and are getting a bit of an earlier start. WestCAT riders will be begin seeing event flyers inside WestCAT buses, online, and at the Hercules Transit Center by early next week. School begins at the end of August, and the earlier start this year provides shoppers the opportunity to take advantage of all of the great back to school sales.

Once again, all donations will go to support the West Contra Costa Unified School District’s Families in Transition/Foster Youth program. The program supports homeless school-age children and youth who attend WCCUSD schools.

WestCAT will be accepting donations of new school supplies beginning Monday, July 10 through Friday, August 4, 2017 from 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. at the WestCAT office located at 601 Walter Ave., Pinole. Drop-off your donation and enter for a chance to win a Free Adult Clipper Card loaded with $20.00.

Requested items are new backpacks, spiral notebooks, boxes of #2 pencils, markers, crayons, highlighters, colored pencils, black composition books, erasers, glue sticks, 2-inch binders, and antibacterial gel /wipes.

If you are unable to drop-off your donation, please contact WestCAT at (510) 724-3331 or email us at and we will arrange to pick-up your donation. No donation is too small!
