Route Information

Local Fixed Route

WestCAT offers local fixed route transportation throughout much of its service area.  Nine local fixed routes service the southwestern portions of the WestCAT area from Viewpointe to Montalvin Manor.  One fixed route operates between Hercules, Rodeo and Crockett.

Express Routes

WestCAT operates express bus service in the I-80 corridor between the Hercules Transit Center and the El Cerrito del Norte BART station 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with modified service on Saturday, Sunday, and some holidays.  WestCAT Express "J" service alternates between the JR routing (along Richmond Parkway) and the JL routing (along Lakeside Drive) in the Hilltop area.

Route JX is a commute hour express bus, which operates weekdays only between the Hercules Transit Center and the El Cerrito del Norte BART station via the High Occupancy Vehicle lane on Interstate 80.

Route JPX is a weekday, commute hour express bus, which is combined with Route 30Z to provide service at 15-minute frequencies on I-80 during commute times.  It travels between the Hercules Transit Center and El Cerrito del Norte BART, making stops on Pinole Valley Road, and the Richmond Parkway Transit Center.  This service makes timed connections with AC Transit's Transbay Route LA at the Richmond Parkway Transit Center and with Fremont trains at BART.

Regional Routes

The Martinez Link 30Z is a regional service that operates between the El Cerrito del Norte BART Station and Martinez.  It operates on weekdays only at 30-minute frequencies during commute times, and every hour during non-commute times.  Route 30Z makes stops in Richmond, Hercules, and Martinez.  It connects with County Connection’ s Route 108 at the Amtrak Station and at the Veterans’ Hospital in Martinez.  During commute hours this route is combined with the express bus Route JPX for convenient regional connections on the I-80 corridor. During non-commute hours, this route serves the portion of Route 19 between the Hercules Transit Center and Richmond Parkway.

Additional information regarding routes and services may be obtained by calling (510) 724-7993.

Also, WestCAT provides service from the Hercules Transit Center to Contra Costa College. The service will operate weekdays only from approximately 7:25 a.m. to 10:55 p.m., at hourly intervals and will have timed connections with local Route 11.   This service is currently operating all year long.  Watch web site and onboard bulletins for schedule updates.

Transbay Route

The Lynx is a new weekday commuter service to the Transbay Terminal in San Francisco operating every 15-30 minutes between the hours of 5:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m., and 3:30 p.m. - 8:33 p.m.

The service starts on Willow Avenue in Rodeo in the morning, making a stop at the Victoria by the Bay neighborhood and the Hercules Transit Center before departing to the San Francisco Transbay Terminal on the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane.

In the afternoon, service starts from the San Francisco Transbay Terminal directly to the Hercules Transit Center (The Lynx stop is located at Platform 3B, lane 3 of the Transbay Terminal, stopping in front of AC Transit's Transbay Line P Piedmont and Line E Claremont), continuing to the Victoria by the Bay neighborhood, and ending on Willow Avenue. The Service features timed connections with Route 15 on Willow Ave. and with the remaining local routes at the Hercules Transit Center.
