Redesigning Transit for a More Connected Community

Project Updates

WestCAT has completed its initial phase of community engagement, which included surveys, open houses, and direct outreach to riders and community members. With hundreds of responses and comments received, we’re now shifting into the next step: reviewing what we heard and translating it into real opportunities to improve service.

In this phase of the WestCAT Evolution project, our team is carefully analyzing route-level data, survey findings, and rider feedback to identify key challenges and opportunities across the system. This includes considering tradeoffs—such as frequency versus coverage—and developing initial ideas for how service could be adjusted to better meet the needs of our community.

These concepts are still in development. Once we’ve refined the most promising ideas, we’ll bring them back to the public for additional input. Your feedback continues to shape this process, and we’re committed to ensuring that all perspectives are reflected in the final recommendations. Stay tuned for updates later this year.

Project Purpose

The “WestCAT Evolution” project is a comprehensive redesign of the transit system to make it more efficient, reliable, and better suited to our community’s needs. This study will evaluate current routes and services to identify opportunities for improvement, ensuring that the system meets the needs of today’s riders while attracting new users. Our goal is to create a clear plan for making WestCAT an effective, convenient option for everyone, so it can continue to serve the community well and adapt to future changes.

At WestCAT, we’re committed to providing reliable, efficient, and equitable transit services that meet the needs of our riders. As part of this study, we’ve outlined clear goals to guide both our service delivery and the redesign process, ensuring we build a transit network that works for everyone.

Make WestCAT’s services more inclusive by removing barriers for individuals with disabilities, older adults, non-English speaking people and people with low incomes, ensuring that everyone can use the system with ease.
