Youth Ride Free is Back for Summer 2026!
Free bus rides for youth 18 and under • June 1 – July 31, 2026
Following a highly successful youth program last summer, County Connection, Tri Delta Transit, and WestCAT will continue the Youth Ride Free program, offering fare-free rides on all fixed-bus routes for youth up to 18 years of age from June 1 through July 31, 2026.
With strong participation and widespread grassroots community support, Youth Ride Free has quickly become a cornerstone program for expanding access and mobility for young riders across the three connecting service areas in Contra Costa County. By removing barriers—no fares, applications, IDs, or special passes required—young riders can simply get on board, making transit more accessible than ever. If youth need to transfer to another transit agency at a shared bus stop, simply ask the operator for a transfer slip when boarding the bus.
Goals of the Youth Ride Free Program
Throughout June and July 2026, our Youth Ride Free initiative aims to:
- Enhance Mobility: Enable young people to move around freely and confidently.
- Access Vital Resources: Ensure area youth can visit libraries, parks, shopping centers, and explore summer job opportunities.
- Reduce Social Isolation: Foster connections among peers and encourage greater transit literacy.
Hop on and ride free this summer—we can’t wait to see you on board!
County Connection and Tri Delta Transit are also participating in the Youth Ride Free Summer Pilot Program.
